The UAE Cabinet has approved the new organisational structure of the Ministry of Economy (MoE), which complements the ministry's Strategic Plan 2008-10. The new structure comes in line with the ministry's guidelines to update and strengthen its operational strategies to comply with the requirements of the coming phase.

 Al Qattami: Cabinet approves draft bill on human resources

The cabinet has endorsed the human resources draft bill, which will be implemented in the coming phase, disclosed Minister of Health HE Humaid Mohammed Al Qattami.

The Cabinet held Sunday morning at the Presidential Palace a meeting presided over by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The UAE Cabinet, during an extraordinary meeting yesterday, approved an amount of Dh42.2 billion as annual budget for 2009. The amount represents an increase of 21 per cent to the 2008 budget. The education and services sectors have been allocated 23% and 37% respectively of this year's budget to reflect the great priority the government gives to those sectors, particularly the health sector.

 Cabinet mandates ESCA to exempt some firms from share buy-back rules

The Cabinet has approved a bill which empowers the Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) to exempt all public joint stock companies from the rules and regulations governing the re-purchasing of their shares as demanded by Article 168 of Commercial Companies Law and all its amendments, but this shall be done only when the ESCA deemed that necessary.
